Sep 08/10 Four North American Continental Champions!
I am writing to you today to request support for 4 very successful Canadian youths from the Niagara Region in rock climbing for an up coming event. Three of these Niagara region climbers won the CEC (Climbing Escalade Canada), National climbing championship this past June in Quebec City at the 2010 Canadian National Championships.
All of the kids are leaders across Canada for their respective competition classes in the CDC. They are also leaders in their divisions for the Tour De Bloc bordering climbing sport. Both the CEC and Tour-de-Bloc are sanctioning bodies that govern climbing in Canada, and are members of the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing) that is the world recognized governing body in the sport climbing sport.
These amazing athletes have been invited to compete in the Pan- American Games; located in Ibarra Ecuador, in November 2010. This is an extraordinary opportunity for these children and a significant stepping-stone in their lives, and their success in the sport of rock climbing. Rock climbing has always been dominated by the Canadian west coast. For the Canadian Nationals, there are 10 cups to be won and three kids from Peaks Rock Climbing St Catharine’s have won 3 of these 10 Canada cups.
Unfortunately the cost for this event to send each participant and their coach to the Pan-American Youth Championships is approximately $4000. As such, we are requesting assistance from your organization to help this dream come true for these hard working children, who represent Canada and the Niagara Region.
I look forward to hearing from you. On behalf of the children, their parents and myself, we thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely Peaks
Dec 9/08 North American Continental Champion is a member at Peaks!
Beth won the 11 & under female division on the week-end in Montreal. Sasha and Courtney both represented themselves well also. Sasha finished a close 10th in the 12 & 13 year old female category and Courtney placed 13th in a tough 11 & under female category. All girls were members of the Canadian team. The Canadian team had 20 medallists, in sport and speed climbing, including 5 gold medallists. I thought you might like to post that on the Peaks web site. Here is a picture of Beth with Sean McColl, our men’s Open gold medallist, and one of her on the podium (it’s not the greatest photo though).

TEACHERS!
Even though you may not be phys. ed. teacher you can still take your class to Peaks. We will improve the communication skills, team skills and general level of trust. All you need to do is to design test such as this one for science class.
