March 29/06            New prop.

I am getting new prop for our tandem unit as the existing one has too much pitch and I can not achieve max RPM. This ground adjustable carbon beauty is coming in from IvoProp.

When I was talking to the sales person he mentioned that Ivo is Czech who escaped communist Czechoslovakia in 1984 in home built Ultralight plane... It is very interesting story. Read it here if you wish.

March 28/06   Great flight today.

Me and Chris hooked up at Sodom Rd. field today for nice thermic flight. I pulled my lower back the other day so I have decided to use trike. I flew the new heavy tandem unit with tandem rescue parachute and I do not think I would be able to launch it in the variable conditions even if my back was OK. The trike is quite nice on those hot, light and variable wind days. I had easy first take off to tune up the machine. After some adjustment on carburetor I took off for the second time. The wind did 180 just as I throttled up but it did not matter I simple screamed down the field till I leaped off. Nice! I also liked the fact that I could really bundle up and since I was not foot launching I did not break sweat at all. Am I getting older or what? The third take off was also very easy and uneventful.

The flight it self was great. Some strong thermal activity coming back to field. We flew about 50 min and landed around 12:30.  Then Dora's for bite to eat. We both had a breakfast for lunch. Nothing like sunny side up eggs, sausage, home fries and ... a beer. That is how I like to start my every Sunday... just kidding. ;-)

March 27/06   Training harness - video.

We got together with Mark to do some flying this Sunday but unfortunately winds were too high even though forecast looked perfect. So we have ground tested bunch of new things including our new harness. Check it out in short video here. This video is courtesy of Mark Andrews of

March 23/06   Training harness for sale.

In the past we have been using Walkerjet harnesses for ground training. This worked OK but Walkerjet harnesses are somewhat bulky and can be quite hot since the fully covered back does not allow heat to escape. So I got to work and designed new light weight, inexpensive training harness that will fit to person of virtually any size. It does not have shoulder straps so you will not get you all scratched, it is very comfortable and fully adjustable.

March 5/06   First PPG flight of this year.

Finally! I woke up this morning, Sun. Slight breeze. I thought this may be it. I wanted to call Mark but when I checked my laptop there was this email:
