Powered Paraglider Paramotor, trike PPG courses and lessons in Ontario, Canada.

Learning how to fly powered paraglider under instructor's guidance is essential for safe and continuous enjoyment of the sport. To earn an ultra light pilot license required to fly PPG in Canada a student pilot must complete 30 take offs and landings totalling 5 hours in a log book. Our PPG course covers all you need to know to fly PPG safely.

Full beginner PPG trike course:  $ 2654.86 + HST = $ 3000

No flight experience necessary.

PG to PPG trike course: $ 1769.91 + HST = $ 2000

This for those who already fly PG but want to learn how to fly with motor.  Minimum of 10 PG flights in log book required to participate.

PPG to PPG trike license $ 884.96 + HST = $ 1000

This for those who already fly PPG and need to get certified according Canadian Aviation Rules. Minimum of 10 PPG flights in log book  required to participate.

Here is an outline of a our typical trike PPG course:

Day 1 - morning:

We will start at 8 am at Peaks Indoor Rock Climbing Club (I own and operate this business too) where we complete 6 hours of preparatory ground school that will cover: Basic principles of PPG aerodynamics, paraglider and paramotor flight principles, general aviation principles and rules, non powered flight simulator, pre-solo exam, weather and issuance of Transport Canada student pilot permit.  We will finish around 3 pm. Day 1 - afternoon:

We will then go to our training field to learn:

  • Paraglider - how to unpack it 
  • Paraglider - clearing lines and untangling lines.
  • Paragliding/training harness - paraglider attachment for forward inflation.
  • Ground forward inflations of paraglider.
  • Paraglider - packing
  • We will conduct 30 min Tandem flight for dual in flight training - only for students under 220 lb.

Day 2 - morning:

Typically first 4 - 5 hrs after sunrise.

  • Ground forward inflations of paraglider.
  • Paramotor pre-flight check.
  • Paramotor start and stop procedure
  • Trike assambly
  • Paramotor - powered run practice
  • Familiarization with radio communication system and helmet
  • We will then go back to Peaks to watch instructional video.

Day 2 - afternoon:

Typically last 3 hrs before sunset.

  • Paramotor and paraglider ground handling - front
  • Trike solo flight/s - weather and skill permissible 
  • Additional ground school information

Day 3 - morning:

Typically first 3 hrs after sunrise.

  • Paramotor and paraglider ground handling - front
  • Trike launched solo flight/s - weather and skill permissible 
  • Additional ground school information

Day 3 - afternoon:

Typically last 3 hrs before sunset.

  • Paramotor and paraglider ground handling - front and reverse.
  • Trike launched solo flight/s - weather and skill permissible 
  • Additional ground school information

Day 4, 5, 6 and 7:

Same as day 3.
